Oregon Employment First Initiative

Welcome to the WISE Oregon Employment First Training and TA webpage which contains information about supported employment training and events.  Our intent is to improve opportunities for individualized community-based employment for Oregonians with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through high quality core competency supported employment training, technical assiistance, and events.

The two main facets of our current work in Oregon are:

1)  The Oregon Employment Learning Network (OELN) which focuses on providing participants with core supported employment professional training.  These trainings help employment professionals meet Oregon’s employment professional core competencies and occur quarterly in different areas and times throughout the state. Each training session is a two-day seminar:

  • Introduction to History of Supported Employment Discovery, and Employment Planning

  • Job Development and Marketing

  • Systematic Instruction and Follow Along

  • Social Security and Work Incentives

2)  The Oregon Transformation Project which focuses on assisting Service Providers to transform their Sheltered Workshop services into community integrated employment services, provides training and technical assistance as well as grant funding through the transformation process.  Service Providers participating in the Oregon Transformation Project, have the opportunity to improve their skills in providing supported employment services and increase capacity to serve people to obtain community integrated employment.  The overall goal of the project is for people working in Sheltered Workshops to obtain customized individual jobs in their local communities that allow them to share their unique strengths, talents and abilities in the workforce.
